Bright Alomatu

Bright is a Biologist for the Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme (NTDP) of Ghana, supporting activities in all the disease areas under the Programme. He is currently the Desk Officer for lymphatic filariasis (LF) on the NTDP.  Bright holds a B.Sc. Zoology and M.Phil. Zoology (Applied Parasitology) from the University of Ghana.

With over fifteen years of experience in implementing programs and activities to control and eliminate NTDs in Ghana; he has played various roles in programme implementation which include planning, resource mobilization, training, monitoring and supervision.

Over the years, he has led field activities for disease mapping, impact assessment, implementation research and other monitoring and evaluation activities. He also led in the establishment of morbidity management and disability prevention systems in some lymphatic filariasis endemic areas in Ghana. Other research areas he has led surveys in include strategies for urban MDAs, schistosomiasis reinfection in school-aged children and bacterial resistance to antibiotics.

On the COUNTDOWN project, Bright is working on the health economics component of the research work in Ghana with Dr James Akazili.
